I learned a lot, about how others thought and about my own thinking.īut I’m tired. I often participated in those discussions, because I wanted to be knowledgeable about the election process, the candidates, and the criteria for choosing a candidate. In the elections since 2016, I’ve read people’s complaints, laments, positions and preferences. I’ve seen people come and go, masterful writers regale us with their talents, and lots of variety in our posts. “Two weeks to stop the spread” happened under Trump’s watch, not Biden’s, and every competitor he will face in the next election will do their best to show how Trump’s response to COVID was essentially the same as Biden’s response to the problem.Įight years have passed since I first came to Ricochet. Trump’s response to COVID was mixed at best, and if he chooses to run for another term in 2024, his candidates are going to go to great lengths to remind him of this fact. While it’s true that immigration is still a big concern for voters, other problems, such as the response to COVID, runaway inflation, and parental control of education, have become hot-button issues around the country. This, however, is just the beginning of Trump’s problem. This has turned off any number of Republicans, including former staunch supporters such as Scott Adams. What was Donald Trump’s nomination to lose seems to be slipping away from, due in part to his unnecessary and unwanted jabs at Republicans before, during, and after the election on Tuesday. There seems to have been a sea change in Republican Party politics this week.
